Cheryl Cole's single races to midweek number one

Wednesday October 21, 2009

We all know she hates it when Simon Cowell is right.

But Girls Aloud beauty Cheryl Cole may be willing to let it go this time.

The music mogul's prediction that Cheryl's "incredible" song would be number one this weekend looks certain to come true.

After selling 134,000 copies in one day, X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has shot to top spot in the UK midweek charts with her solo single Fight for this Love.

The 26-year-old has beaten first day sales of her former protégé Alexandra Burke's number one Bad Boys, which sold 185,000 copies over a seven-day period.

Cheryl needn't have been nervous about starting out on her own. Her song, which she performed on X Factor last weekend, is also the fastest-selling record of the year so far.
