Lindsay Lohan was due to start court-ordered morgue duty on Thursday, but on her first day she turned up late.
The troubled young actress was told to complete a 16-hour community service punishment before her next hearing on November 2.
She arrived at the County Morgue in LA in a black porsche over 40 minutes late.
Her tardiness meant she was turned away at the door, but was given the opportunity to come back the next day.
The star tweeted her apologies and posted on her website saying:
"With all of the stress and pressure from yesterday and today, I've never been so happy to go to therapy!!!!
"Also, I'm sorry for the confusion that I may have caused to those at the Coroner's office.
"Won't happen again, now I know where to go! Thank you for your help."
Lindsay remains on probation for drunk driving arrests in 2007 and a theft case filed earlier this year after she was accused of stealing a valuable necklace.
