Crown Princess Mary of Denmark cuts a studious and focused figure as she visits a class of school children in New York.
The Danish royal rolled up her sleeves as she helped out students at Harlem Children's Zone Promise Academy II with one of their classes.
The Australia-born princess, who gave birth to twins Vincent and Josephine in January, was a natural with the yougsters as they worked and played together.
Mum-of-four Mary made it clear that learning can be light-hearted too, and at one point she jokingly squinted through her hands to 'see' a maths problem on the board.
Crown Prince Frederik and his wife are currently on official business in the United States.
The visit will see the couple attend several events promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, as well as sustainability in the areas of design and architecture.
