Monaco's sovereign Prince Albert has announced that he is to wed his long-term love Charlene Wittstock.
The engagement is the culmination of a four-year long courtship between the former swimming champion from South Africa and the 52-year-old prince, one of the most eligible bachelors in royal circles.
Charlene, 32, was first spotted with Albert at the Winter Olympics in Turin.
Since then she has become an elegant fixture on the social scene, impressing with her discreet style and graceful manner.
No date has yet been set for the nuptials.
The ceremony will be a highly anticipated event, as it will be the first wedding involving a ruling prince of the Grimaldi family since Prince Rainier made Grace Kelly his wife in 1956.
