Gaga shows her support for 'beautiful' Japan

Thursday June 23, 2011

Lady Gaga has touched down in Japan ahead of her headline slot at an MTV awards fundraiser on June 25.

The excentric singer was invited by the Japanese government and US ambassador John Roos to show her support after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

"I can't say enough to people all over the world that the majority of Japan right now, Japan in general, is very safe. It's fine to come here. It's beautiful," she said.

The Bad Romance singer has recently donated $3 million to the most affected areas.

Tourism, she insists, is the best way the world can help Japan regain its economic status.

The natural disaster and its nuclear repercussions have halved the amount foreign vistors compared to this time last year.

The flamboyant singer will give a short performance at the show along with Japanese singer Nishino Kana and boy band MBLAQ.

MTV Japan has also agreed to donate 10 Yens per public vote to the Japanese Red Cross.
