Of all the famous faces the Duchess of Cornwall has met in her royal duties, the one she encountered on Thursday is likely to be the most intimidating.
Careful to keep her distance, Camilla came face to face with a Dalek – one of the renowned nemeses of Dr Who – as she formally opened the West Wilts Show at Trowbridge Park this week.
Despite the drizzle, Prince Charles' wife – who owns a house in Reybridge, North Wiltshire – was greeted by a marching band and hundreds of cheering children.
"Although I have one leg in Gloucestershire, I also have one firmly planted in Wiltshire and take any excuse to come back here," she told the delighted audience.
After trying her hand at darts, juggling and joining in a children's sing-a-long, Camilla got down to the business of shopping.
Among the goods she picked up was a blue jug crafted by a local potter and some striped denim dungarees for one of her granddaughters.
She also happily tasted local produce, including cheese and cider, and went home with a pot of honey after speaking with bee keeper Chris Rawlings and revealing she was considering starting bee keeping herself.
