American singer Eddie Fisher, a Fifties teen idol once married to Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor, has died at the age of 82.
His daughter Tricia has confirmed that he passed away on Wednesday night after suffering complications from hip surgery.
"Late last evening the world lost a true American idol," the family said in a statement. "One of the greatest voices of the century passed away, he was an extraordinary talent."
Born Edwin Jack Fisher in 1928, Eddie became a teen favourite in the 1950s with a string of top 40 hits and his own TV show.
In 1955, he married Debbie Reynolds, and the pair were dubbed "America's favourite couple".
But he caused an international scandal when he divorced Debbie after Elizabeth Taylor's husband - and one of his best friends - Mike Todd, was killed in a 1958 plane crash.
The following year, Eddie married Elizabeth (pictured together in 1962), but their marriage only lasted five years. She famously went on to marry Richard Burton.
In all, Eddie was married five times. He had four children; two with Debbie, including Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher, and two daughters with actress Connie Stevens.
