So 15 minutes after the scheduled service time, pallbearers at Forst Lawn Memorial Park in California finally carried the Cleopatra actress out in a beautifully decorated casket.
The star was laid to rest in The Great Mausoleum – just a stone's throw from her dear friend Michael Jackson.
The ceremony was small and private, consisting of only friends and family.
Readings were performed by Elizabeth's son, daughter and grandson, and Colin Farrell recited a poem.
