The Magnificent Seven star Eli Wallach has passed away at the age of 98.
His death was confirmed to The New York Times by his daughter Katherine on Tuesday.
Eli had a long career in acting with more than 60 years on the big screen, paying parts in film hits such as The Godfather Part III, Rhinoceros, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and The Misfits.
He worked on into his 90s, with roles in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Ghost Writer.
Despite his many outstanding performances, often playing alongside his wife Anne Jackson, the legend was never nominated for an Academy Award.
Close to his 95th birthday, however, Eli was awarded with an Honourary Oscar, where he was saluted as "the quintessential chameleon, effortlessly inhabiting a wide range of characters, while putting his inimitable stamp on every role".
