John Terry: 'I'll offer handshake to team-mate Wayne'

Friday February 26, 2010

Former England captain John Terry and Manchester City star Wayne Bridge are due to meet when their two teams play at the weekend.

Saturday will be the pair's first meeting since news of John's alleged affair with Vanessa Perroncel - the ex-girlfriend of Wayne and mother of his three-year-old son.

As anticipation mounts about the football stars' reaction to seeing each other, married father-of-two John has spoken of his intentions.

"I will offer my hand and be prepared to shake his," John apparently told a friend, reports the Sun.

"As captain, I have certain duties that I'm honoured to carry out."

Meanwhile, after Wayne's announcement to step down from this summer's World Cup tournament, French model Vanessa believes it is a mistake.

"Vanessa is very upset...she believes it is the wrong decision," her publicist Max Clifford says.

"As the alleged affiar happened after they had split up, you would think he would be able to move on and take the greatest opportunity he will ever get in his career.

"Surely the only person he's hurting is himself...I think he's letting himself down as well as his country."
