Uruguayan footballer Luis Suárez has received a four month ban on any football-related activity from FIFA's disciplinary panel following an incident where Luis was seen biting opponent Giorgio Chiellini in the Italy vs Uruguay World Cup match. The 27-year-old footballer has also been banned from nine international matches.
"Such behaviour cannot be tolerated on any football pitch," said the chairman of the committee Claudio Sulser. "In particular not at a Fifa World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field."
This is not the first time that Luis has been banned from matches. Since 2010 he has been banned for 34 games without receiving a single red card, including a seven-match ban for biting Dutch midfielder Otman Bakkal.
