Bobby Brown will spend nearly two months in an LA jail after pleading no contest to a drink-driving offence committed in October 2012. It is his second drink-driving conviction in a year.
The ex-husband of Whitney Houston also received a four-year probation. At the time of his arrest, the 44-year-old rapper was on probation following a separate drink-driving incident.
As well as spending 55 days in prison, the New Edition singer will be required to follow an 18-month alcohol treatment programme and according to reports he must install an ignition interlock device in his car and attend three AA meetings per week.
The father-of-one was not present when his lawyer entered his plea. He is required to report to jail on March 20.
Bobby and Whitney divorced in 2007 after 15 years of marriage. They have one daughter together, Bobbie Kristina. Whitney, the legendary singer and Bodyguard star, died last February aged 48.
