Woman bombarded with calls after number was shown on EastEnders

Tuesday April 27, 2010

A businesswoman received almost 3,000 text messages and hundreds of calls after her mobile phone number was displayed during an episode of EastEnders.

Beautician Lisa Edwards complained she was besieged with calls from strangers, including 'quite a few' obscene messages after her number was clearly shown for four seconds on the mobile of Ricky Butcher last September.

The 39-year-old mother of two from Alvechurch near Birmingham was asked several times: "Is that Sam from EastEnders?".

"The calls just keep coming and I can't use my phone for my business. Most have been friendly but quite a few were obscene," Lisa says.

The BBC has apologised for the error, claiming the phone number had been shown by accident.
