Lady Gaga is coming to terms with the loss of her grandfather Joseph Germanotta.
Just two days after the superstar visited him in his nursing home with her boyfriend Luc Carl and mother Cynthia, the 88-year-old passed away in New Jersey.
His death will no doubt greatly upset the 24-year-old, who has publicly spoken about her love for her grandfather in the past.
In May, Lady Gaga – real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta - dedicated her song Speechless to Joseph during a concert in Nottingham.
"I don’t always talk about my personal life but my grandpa's sick," she said. "And I'm really close to my grandpa and he's really sick and he's in the States and my dad's with him.
"So I was like crying all day, really sad. So I thought I might just be honest and tell you what's going on.
"…It's been one of those tough things that my grandpa's too old to come to my show, but I suppose if we sing loud enough, he'll be able to hear us. So this one's for you grandpa."
The pop star seemingly paid tribute to her grandpa on Twitter, choosing to use his Italian name.
"Having a perfect Manhattan, for my perfect guy," she wrote on Sunday. "Love you Giuseppe".
