Paula Patton has described her baby son as a "good luck charm" - because he scored her a lead role in Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol.
The Precious star won the part in the fourth instalment five months after giving birth to one-year-old Julian Fuego, her first child with husband and Grammy-winning singer Robin Thicke.
"I was pregnant during the whole awards season of Precious and then I gave birth to my son.
"Five months later I got the role - so he's been my good luck charm, my little boy," she said.
The 36-year-old actress has been a fan of the Mission: Impossible movies since the first one, so winning the role of field agent Jane Carter opposite Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner has been a "dream come true".
Paula confessed that she even thought her agents were pulling her leg when they asked her to audition for the blockbuster franchise.
"I just said, 'Ugh, please! Don't waste my time'," she laughed.
"Never in my wildest imagination did I think I'd be in Mission: Impossible. I was blown away. It's been a dream come true. This has been an incredible ride."
