Coronation Street actor Mikey North has returned to Weatherfield, having recovered from an attack in his Scarborough hometown.
Bosses are delighted by the quick recovery of the actor who suffered a broken jaw when he was set upon as he walked home from a nightclub over Easter.
"Mikey was central to one storyline which has spinoffs and are crucial to the coming months," said a Corrie source about the actor who portrays bad boy Gary Windass. "If he had been out for any longer it would have been a nightmare."
Police have questioned and let out on bail a 19-year-old man in connection with the incident.
Coronation Street has been hit by a string of incidents of late. In addition to Mikey's assault, Bill Roache recently lost his wife of 30 years, while the premature son of fellow Corrie cast member Kym Marsh passed away not long after being born.
