Benedict Cumberbatch has had a lot to celebrate recently after winning an Emmy award for his role in Sherlock and receiving the honour of his own wax figure at Madame Tussauds.
The London tourist attraction had been bombarded with requests for a wax figure of the popular and critically acclaimed actor and it will be completed later this year.
After having been measured for the wax work, the 38-year-old British actor gave Madame Tussauds artists a hand with the early sculpting of the work when attending a sitting to ensure an identical likeness is achieved.
"The main privilege for me", according to Benedict, "was the process and seeing the amount of exacting work and skill brought to every detail of this art form."
"As a subject, you stand still surrounded by sculptors, painters, photographers, measurers and a whole army of people who bring together your likeness...it's an extraordinary experience," he continued.
Initially the head of the figure is sculpted in clay and the final wax result will display the TV star looking impeccably groomed and "premiere ready" in black tie.
"Finally I can photobomb myself! What a weird and wonderful compliment to be included in the ranks of talent already committed to wax. I've been accused of being wooden in my work but never waxy!" Benedict said.
"My agents will be thrilled, they've wanted a clone of me for some time!"
