A woman, who was the inspiration for the legendary song Beatles song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, has died aged 46.
As a little girl Lucy Vodden was friendly with John Lennon's son Julian.
He drew a picture of her at their nursery school and took it home to his dad, explaining: “That’s Lucy in the sky with diamonds”.
Julian got in touch with his childhood pal again on learning that she was suffering from Lupus, an incurable immune deficiency disease.
He sent her a bouquet of flowers and a personally written card containing garden centre vouchers because she found relief in her plants.
Upon hearing the news of her death this week, the musician's son said how he was, "shocked and saddened".
