A double-sided sheet of paper featuring John Lennon's handwritten lyrics to The Beatles song, A Day in the Life, is expected to raise $700,000 – £460,000 – when it goes under the hammer.
The words, written in felt marker and blue ink, contain corrections and other notes about the track – the last on the band's 1967 Sgt Pepper album.
The sheet will go up for sale on June 18 at Sotheby's New York, which describes the number as "the revolutionary song that marked The Beatles' transformation from pop icons to artists".
The current record for the most money paid for Beatles lyrics was made in 2005 when the words to All You Need Is Love were purchased for $1 million (£655,450).
