Race ace Jenson Button has been awarded an MBE, an honour he described as "the crowning glory to the most incredible year of my life".
"To be recognised by Her Majesty The Queen and the British people is a tremendous honour for me," says the 29-year-old, who became Formula One's world champion this year.
"The past 12 months have provided me with such an exhilarating journey. We literally started with nothing, but had the belief, determination and passion to take on the world and succeed."
It was a good day all round for British stars.
Star trek actor Patrick Stewart was knighted for his services to drama, while Status Quo rockers Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt, were also recognised with an OBE.
And it was well-deserved in Rick's opinion.
"To be perfectly honest, with all the hard work we have put in over the years, I accept it graciously," he said.
