Actress Daniella Westbrook has been speaking about her torment after quitting the jungle challenge I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here. The 29-year-old decided to give up after television viewers failed to vote her off the show.

Each week one of the famous contestants is chosen to be expelled from the contest. Feeling desperately homesick, Daniella had appealed for fans to choose her, but her popularity seems to have been her undoing, as weathergirl Sian Lloyd was evicted instead. The mother-of-two burst into tears when she finally saw her husband Kevin Jenkins waiting for her outside the Australian jungle camp. "I was living hour to hour in a world of hurt," she said. "All I've done is cry, and if I've got any tears left, I'll blub."

The star, who once famously struggled with substance abuse, went on to thank her fellow contestants for their encouragement, adding: "I need the support group I have at home. If I don't have my recovery I don't have my life."

Daniella also insisted that, despite her early departure, her experience on the show had been a success. "I achieved the things I went into the jungle to achieve. I needed to find out more about me and stand on my own two feet… And the memories of those nine special people will go with me to the grave."
