With all the votes in our end of year poll now counted it's clear hellomagazine.com readers have some firm ideas about the memorable star moments and trends of 2008. Questions about who you think made the biggest comeback, which new actor got your vote for the unrivalled breakout role and the most talked about moment in the world of entertainment in the last 12 months got you clicking in your thousands. And you were equally opinionated about the variety of other topics in the poll.

Several royal brides headed down the aisle last year and competition for the title of most radiant was stiff. In the end Peter Phillips' Canadian wife Autumn Kelly grabbed 43 per cent of the vote – beating Prince Joachim of Denmark's love Princess Marie into second place by ten per cent.

You found it much easier to choose the best candidate for unrivalled breakout role. A whopping two thirds decided handsome Brit Robert Pattinson deserved to win for his performance in Twilight. He left the likes of Mamma Mia!'s Amanda Seyfried and Ben Barnes, who starred in the second Narnia film, trailing far behind.

Another hot topic in the vote was new celeb arrivals. A total of 55 per cent picked the image of singer Gwen Stefani cuddling her new son Zuma as their favourite home baby snap, while Ashlee Simpson's son Bronx Mowgli swept the board in the top unusual baby name category.

While one of the biggest stories of 2008 was Madonna and Guy Ritchie's divorce, it seems many of you weren't shocked when they went their separate ways. When it came to choosing the most surprising break up, only ten percent of you thought they were the best candidate. The clear winners in that category were Marsha and Robin Williams, who split in March after 18 years together.

So far as star trend-setters were concerned, you preferred Katie Holmes' short hairstyle over that of her pal Victoria Beckham. And just under half agreed that Brad Pitt had the best moustache.

In other categories Britney Spears was unanimously crowned last year's biggest comeback with 64 per cent of the vote, while the most talked about moment in the world of entertainment was deemed the furore over Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand's answer phone messages to veteran actor Andrew Sachs.

The closest mother-daughter likeness category went to actress Jane Seymour and her daughter Catherine.
