Laurence's wife tells how she dropped three dress sizes
9 APRIL 2009
With her newly nipped-in-waist clothes showing off her now size 12 figure, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen's wife Jackie is a shadow of her former self after losing five stone on a liquid diet.
Formerly 16 stone, she's pared down to 11.
By the time she wed the Changing Rooms presenter in her early 20s, Jackie was already a size 14 having battled weight gain since childhood. Her mum put her on a diet aged 11, but she kept eating in secret and over the years the pounds continued to pile on as she increased to a size 18.
All that changed however when, concerned about the health implications of her weight, the mum-of-two decided to support a pal who'd gone on a diet.
"I know people who have developed health problems because of their weight and I didn't want that to happen to me with a young family to bring up," she says.
Swapping junk food and gin and tonics for the Lighterlife food plan required "a huge commitment", she says. But the results were worth it.
"I'm not Laurence's dumpy wife any more. There used to be a the odd comment in the papers suggesting that somehow I didn't deserve my husband because I wasn't thin."
"I'm probably better nourished now than I've been at any point in my adult life, she adds.
