Linda Evans delighted as viewers name her queen of the kitchen

Former Dynasty star Linda Evans cheered and screamed on learning she'd triumphed on Hell's Kitchen - edging out hotly tipped comedian Ade Edmondson.

Showing how popular the actress has become through a combination of her dedication and non-starry ways, her celebrity contenders joined her in the jubilant confetti-filled celebrations.

In the final she impressed by efficiently killing an eel and preparing a lunch of a crab and shallot appetiser followed by salmon in an oriental sauce for star guest Raymond Blanc. Clearly shocked by her win – which came after millions of TV viewers gave her their vote – Linda said: "I am just so glad that at 66 I was able to do this and be on television and win people over.

"It's important that women know they can have a long life in television," she added. Sixteen days toiling away under fiery restaurant boss Marco Pierre White had only increased her enthusiasm for his personal style.

"I love (him)- he is a fascinating man," she enthused. "The thing about Marco is that he is not a mean-spirited man, he just wants the best out of you."
