There were smiles of relief and hugs from his supporters as Peter Andre learnt that his three-and-a-half year marriage to Katie Price was officially over.
Holding back tears outside his lawyer's office, he told his brother Michael and manager, Claire Powell: "At last I'm free to love again".
He added: "It's over. I've moved on. It's been hard but you guys have always been there for me.
"I've been hurt by this but I'm a stronger man now. I can cope with anything."
The decree absolute ending the union follows the granting of a decree nisi – the penultimate stage in a divorce - six weeks ago.
As her ex celebrated the start of a new chapter, the glamour model claimed she'd didn't even know the divorce had been finalised.
Speaking on This Morning, she did, however, seek to calm the war of words that has erupted between them recently.
"All I want to do is meet up with Pete. All I'd like to say to Pete is, 'Let's just sit in a room, just us'," she told Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
"I just don't hold anything against him. Let's be adults."
Pete has issued a libel writ against remarks that Katie made questioning his devotion as a parent and claiming he'd been unfaithful.
