And for Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's two little boys, a winter wonderland was the perfect way to kick off the festive season.
After flying into London earlier this week, where they will be spending the holidays, the family got into the spirit of things with a visit to a fair in Hyde Park.
The No Doubt star and her musician husband – who earlier hit the shops in Notting Hill to buy presents – wrapped up Kingston, three, and his one-year-old brother Zuma for the chilly evening out.
Not that their children seemed to mind the cold – they were in their element trying out the attractions.
And seeing how much fun their children were having brought a smile to their mum and dad.
The beaming couple took photos of their boys throughout the visit, and Gwen, 40, took her youngest for a ride on a traditional merry-go-round.
Last year the blonde beauty and her family spent Christmas at their home in Los Angeles, but British singer Gavin, 43, recently revealed, they "alternate each year".
"…We're excited about having an old-fashioned European holiday," the 43-year-old said of this year's celebrations.
Marking special occasions in both of their homelands is important to the couple. Back in 2002, the were married at St Paul's Church in Covent Garden, before holding a second ceremony in LA two weeks later.
