From the moment the show begins on Sunday, fans of Dancing on Ice will be waiting in anticipation to see who will go on to eventually win this year's series.
Some of those supporters might be hedging their bets on one celebrity contestant who is already proving to be particularly stoic on the ice – Heather Mills.
Referring to herself as a "sadomasochist", the 41-year-old charity campaigner has spoken about the litany of injuries she has sustained just in rehearsals.
She also revealed that she may have to perform a one-legged routine if her injuries worsen, but vowed that the show will go on.
"I fractured a rib, tore my rotator cuff, then shifted my pelvis," Sir Paul McCartney's ex revealed. "There is not much left to break…My doctor thought it was ridiculous and said: 'I think you should pull out.'"
"Then I woke up and thought, 'I am doing this for charity', and I saw my boots and sparkly catsuits and thought, 'I've got to do this'."
Another source of motivation for Heather, who lost part of her left leg after being hit by a motorcycle in 1993, is her six-year-old little girl Beatrice.
"My daughter is so excited, she's already got a matching little leotard made to match me and she's just learnt to ice-skate," the Aldershot-born former model said.
"Now I can take her ice-skating and she's not going to have a disabled mum that can't do anything with her."
She also added that her former musician husband – Heather and Paul split in 2006, divorcing two years later – had "lots of support" for her decision to enter the show.
The mum-of-one, who took part in US TV talent contest Dancing with the Stars, is competing against 13 other celebrities including Gordon Ramsay's wife Tana, former EastEnders actress Daniella Westbrook, Boyzone's Mikey Graham and Simon Cowell's ex Sinitta.
Olympic swimmer Sharon Davies, Inbetweeners actress Emily Atack and Emmerdale star Hayley Tamaddon complete the list of female competitors.
And the male contingent are made up by Corrie's Danny Young, former Bill actor Gary Lucy, Hollyoaks' Kieron Richards, Holby City actor Jeremy Sheffield, comedian Bobby Davro and celebrity doctor Hilary Jones.
This year's series also features a new face on the judging panel. Former Spice Girl Emma Bunton will be joining Jason Gardiner, Robin Cousins, Karen Barber and former British ice champion Nicky Slater.
