Golden girl Amy Williams gets a hero's welcome of Olympic proportions in Bath

by hellomagazine.com As far as homecomings go it was no doubt one which Olympic champion Amy Williams will never forget.

The 27-year-old, who picked up Britain's only medal at the Vancouver Winter Olympics, looked to be having the time of her life as she greeted crowds of locals in her hometown of Bath from atop a double decker bus.

Around 5,000 people had turned out to welcome her home, each cheering and many waving Union flags.

Amy, who took gold in the Women's Bob Skeleton, said: "It's absolutely unbelievable that everyone has turned out for me. I've seen open top tours of other sportsmen and women but I never thought it would be me, here.

"I'm absolutely overwhelmed. It's amazing and a great honour that everyone has organised this for me."

Amy, who is the first individual British gold medallist at the Winter Olympics in 30 years, will be offered the freedom of the city at a ceremony later this year.
