Although Cheryl Cole didn't mention her marital troubles directly, it was clear they were on her mind as she spoke out after being named the most inspirational woman of the decade in an online poll.
After expressing her delight at being an inspiration to others, she added: "I'm still a human being so obviously there's going to be times when I make mistakes or I make a bad choice – but I'm hoping that's also an inspiration to women."
Cheryl announced her separation from husband Ashley Cole last month after stories emerged claiming he had been unfaithful.
The Girls Aloud beauty, who has recovered from the bronchitis which caused her to cancel recent public appearances, is yet to begin divorce proceedings which would make the split permanent, however.
Cheryl appeared relaxed and happy on Tuesday as she left the Radio 1 studios. She was there to promoted her new single Parachute, the third track off her number one album 3 Words.
She talked about how she'd love to be part of the US version of X Factor when Simon Cowell launches it next year, but is worried Americans won't be able to understand her.
"They don't know me out there and I've got this weird accent, " she said. "They'd be a bit like, 'What?'."
