Theirs is a love that has raised eyebrows. With a 23-year-age gap between Sam Taylor Wood and her actor fiancé Aaron Johnson, many were surprised when the artist and director announced she was pregnant with their daughter Wylda Rae. And the 43-year-old has made a further surprising revelation to a US publication - it was 20-year-old Aaron who wanted to have a baby. Sam told Harper's Bazaar: "Aaron, almost before anything started between us, said he wanted kids. He was very clear about wanting a family." Crediting the Kick Ass actor with having "family values", the successful artist and director said: "We hardly go out now, it's just us. You know what I used to be like. Aaron has brought a set of values I didn't even know I was looking for, family values."
The couple met on set of Sam's debut film Nowhere Boy, when Aaron was cast as its lead, John Lennon. They were engaged five months later and welcomed Wylda in July this year. Dismissing her label as a 'cougar', Aaron calls himself an 'old soul' and Sam has said: "He stops me from spinning out and being a complete nutter, which I’m definitely capable of. He grounds me and keeps me calmer." And it seems the 20-year-old has fully embraced fatherhood and is more than willing to put his daughter before his flourishing acting career. He said before her birth: "I'm going to be a father soon, you know what I mean? Which is so wonderfully exciting I can't wait for it. And I also know there are so many things I want to give my child. And maybe that means taking a job purely for the money." "[Sam and I] have a great understand of each other's work artistically, as well as knowing what's a creative piece and what's something that's going to be a commercial job that could possibly not be ideal for your career but will bring in some money." Their relationship follows Sam's 11-year marriage to successful art dealer Jay Jopling (pictured below), which ended in 2008.
She has two children, Angelina 13, and Jessie, 4, from the union.
