A comedian loved by the nation and a global superstar footballer are perhaps not the most likely of friends.
Yet on a boys night out on Monday James Corden and David Beckham proved that the friendship they struck up while starring together in a series of Comic and Sport Relief skits (pictured below) has remained firm.
David was in England to take part in the country's bid to host the 2018 World Cup but still found time to enjoy dinner with the 32-year-old comedy star.
The pair started the night at the exclusive C London restaurant before heading to Guy Ritchie's pub, The Punchbowl.
Laughing and joking as they ate and drank, they seemed in high spirits. And David would undoubtedly have been providing James with fatherhood tips as the Gavin and Stacey star prepares for the arrival of his first child with girlfriend Julia Carey.
The night perhaps came as a welcome relief for David who is currently facing new allegations of an affair with a US-based lingerie saleswoman.
The latest claims have been made by the same US magazine, In Touch, that the 35-year-old is suing, following allegations of a previous tryst.
David plans to continue in his court battle with the magazine. A source close to the star said: "This is a smokescreen and it’s not going to hold up in court."
He added: "He is not backing down - he plans to go full throttle in this matter."
