In the Sixties it was the Beatles that had crowds of girls screaming and jamming up the streets wherever they went. Justin was confined to his hotel as hundreds of fans gathered outside. He was even told by police that he could be arrested for 'inciting a riot' if he stepped outside. He wrote on his Twitter account: "This is crazy. There are like thousands of people out there. "Love everybody but gonna try and get some sleep. Please don't scream. LOL." Justin is playing Liverpool Echo Arena on Friday night. He hoped to spend his day off taking a historic Beatles tour around the city. But he ended up having to stay in his £950-a-night suite after police advised him it would be a safety risk if he left. He tweeted: "I can't even say hi to my fans outside cuz of the police. Some bull. "Trying to work it out so I can say whatup to my fans. I love you guys!"

The British leg comes in the middle of his world tour. After Liverpool, he will play London, Manchester Sheffield and Nottingham, before heading off for Germany. His popularity continues to grow – the teen idol's Twitter followers hit the 8 million mark this week. But the Canada-born star's biggest fan is currently back in the US.
