She saw her US X Factor dreams dashed earlier this year.
But Cheryl Cole is set to stage an American comeback after landing a role in a star-studded Hollywood film.
According to the Daily Mail, the 28-year-old singer is to appear alongside A-listers Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez in What To Expect When You're Expecting – an adaptation of the successful pregnancy guide.
The film – also starring Dennis Quaid, Chace Crawford and Matthew Morrison - will chronicle the lives of four couples as they prepare to become parents.
At some point in the 2012 film, Cameron reportedly auditions in an X Factor-style contest in front of Cheryl's character.
She is said to have impressed movie bosses during her four-day appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
"This is a bit of fun for Cheryl," a source told the newspaper. "She will film the scenes imminently and is really looking forward to it.
"It doesn’t mean she suddenly wants to become an actress. It was just an opportunity that has come up and she thought it would be great fun to take part."
Cheryl has appeared on the silver screen once before. In 2007, she and her Girls Aloud band mates made cameos in the St Trinian's movie.
