As she gently rubs her prominent bump through her dress, Kate Silverton radiates the glow of a mother-to-be, a happiness she thought she’d never experience.
She’s seven months into her pregnancy, yet the 41-year-old, one of the BBC’s best-known presenters and newsreaders and an established part of the Breakfast team, still can’t quite believe her luck.
This baby is the closest it gets to a miracle for me,” she tells HELLO! in an exclusive interview at the beautiful new home she shares with her 43-year-old husband, security expert Michael Heron, in southwest London.
Because of Kate’s medical history – she lost an ovary during a life-saving operation when she was 29 – she had been told her chances of getting pregnant were virtually zero.
Even so, over two years she and Mike tried everything they could to conceive – IVF, acupuncture, reflexology – but each attempt failed.
