Aretha Franklin has called off her wedding to William Wilkerson saying that things had been moving a little "too fast" for her.
The RESPECT singer was set to marry for the third time this summer in a lavish wedding on a yacht on Miami beach.
However, the couple – who announced their engagement earlier in the month – released a statement telling her fans the wedding has been called off:
"Regretfully, To Our Friends and Supporters: Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast, and there were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly.
She continued: "There will be no wedding at this time." The statement was signed "Aretha and Will".
Aretha, 69, was previously married to her former manager Ted White in 1960's and then married actor Glynn Turman in 1979.
She has four children from previous relationships.
