Leading ladies chase the rainbow at the SAGs

As the sun dipped low over the Shrine Auditorium in LA, the starlets twirling for the cameras made sure one of Hollywood's key galas was a riot of colour.

Leading the way at the Screen Actors Guild Awards was green goddess Emily Blunt and The Help's Jessica Chastain, who dazzled in a stunning cobalt blue Calvin Klein column.

Also wowing the crowds was scarlet lady Michelle Williams, in Valentino, and Sofia Vergara whose generous curves were barely contained by her fuchsia Marchesa gown.

But the ladies who eschewed colour also looked incredible. Glee's Lea Michele turned heads in a dramatic Versace affair featuring a thigh-high split.

The Good Wife star Julianna Margulies said her dress, a dove grey lace Calvin Klein, dotted all over with appliquéd flowers reflected her mood. "It's very romantic," she explained.

Emma Stone had opted for a flirty look in black Alexander McQueen featuring a lacy bodice. The finishing touch was one of the label's signature 'skull' clutches.
