First look at Anne Hathaway's hair-raising new short style

by Exiting a London nightclub in the early hours of the morning, Anne Hathaway is almost unrecognisable.

The actress has chopped off her trademark long brunette locks for her role in the film version of Les Miserables, and she's clearly still getting used to the dramatic change.

Anne seemed to be self-consciously covering her new pixie cut as photographers clamoured to get a snap.

The new style will help her to fully embrace the role of destitute factory worker Fantine in her new film, in which she will also showcase her vocal talents.

She's not just shorn her brunette mane, Anne's also shedding weight for the part. The Hollywood beauty admitted to consuming only 500 calories a day to slim down.

Appearing with her in Les Miserables are Mamma Mia! star Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter.
