'Kristen we love you': Toronto shows its support in wake of affair claims

There were reports that Kristen Stewart was nervous about promoting her new film, On The Road following the controversy over her love life. But she needn't have worried.

Fans at the Toronto International Film Festival welcomed her with cries of "Kristen, I love you!". And the starlet, who often looks uncomfortable in the spotlight, responded with enthusiasm, happily signing autographs, smiling and chatting with the crowds.

She also received support from her co-stars Kirsten Dunst and Garrett Hedlund, with the trio laughing and cuddling each other.

Their road movie, based on the travels of cult US poet Jack Kerouac, was opening the film extravaganza, and all eyes were on leading lady Kristen for more than one reason.

It was the first time the 22-year-old had returned to the spotlight following her "momentary indiscretion" with married father-of-two Rupert Sanders.

Despite the strain the affair has caused the actress, she put her best Jimmy-Choo clad foot forward for her comeback.

The self-confessed tomboy pulled out all the stops with a lacy embroidered number from Zuhair Murad.

Meanwhile, estranged boyfriend Robert Pattinson was also out for the evening – thousands of miles away in Los Angeles.

He and fellow Twilight co-stars Taylor Lautner and Elizabeth Reaser presented a new clip of Breaking Dawn: Part 2 at the MTV Video Music Awards.
