The couple wed during an intimate boat party on the River Thames as family and friends looked on. Celebrity guests on deck included Oscar winner Colin Firth and comedienne Ruby Wax. Acting as bridesmaids were Annie's two daughters, model Tali, 19, and Lola, 22. The singer, 57, shared a detail from her special day, posting a picture of a bouquet of pretty blooms on Twitter. The caption read: "Wedding flowers: 15th September 2012."

The bride looked lovely in a floor-length gown with a lace bolero shrug and a Twenties style headpiece. Her husband, meanwhile, wore a simple grey suit and a pastel-coloured tie. Dr Mitch, also 57, hails from South Africa and is a leading HIV campaigner. Annie met him in 2009 when she did some work with his charity Mothers2Mothers, which helps children and single mothers with AIDS. Mitch, who has two teenage sons, was married at the time.

His wife filed for divorce in 2009, after pictures emerged of him holding hands with the Sweet Dreams singer. It is thought he was experiencing difficulties in his marriage before the pictures emerged, however. Scottish-born Annie first got hitched in 1988, to a German Hare Krishna devotee Radha Ramen but it ended a year later. Her second marriage lasted 12 years. She wed Israeli film and record producer Uri Frutmann, the father of Lola and Tali. In 2008, the Eurthymics singer said she had no desire to walk down the aisle again. "No more marriage for me, I don't see the point of it. It's not that I am sure a cynic. "To share one's life with someone is a beautiful thing. But for the moment, I am a single person."
