Daniel, wearing a Tom Ford suit, said he was "incredibly proud" to once more be playing Ian Fleming's suave hero, who first appeared on the big screen in Dr No in 1962.
Three months after he played a part in the Olympic opening ceremony alongside the Queen, Daniel met her son the Prince of Wales who was the royal guest at the screening together with the Duchess of Cornwall. He said: "I've never been to a premiere like this, it's incredible."
He was joined by fellow stars Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe and Javier Bardem - who plays Bond's nemesis Silva.
For the special event, the Spanish actor, who was accompanied by wife Penelope Cruz, chose an eco-friendly tuxedo designed by Gucci.
Javier, the first man to appear in Gucci for the Green Carpet Challenge, wore a Made to Order black Signoria tuxedo made from 100% organic wool with recycled-satin lapel and trim detail, a 100% organic cotton white dress shirt and recycled satin bowtie.
Speaking of his role in the film, he confesed he was always drawn to Bond villains after seeing the metal-toothed baddie Jaws in Moonraker as a youngster.
Asked about the enduring appeal of the films, he said: "Well, 50 years is a long time. That means they have been doing something really right, starting with the actors who have played Bond. They have all brought their own flavour to it."
Also among the hundreds of guests filtering into the Albert Hall was Dame Judi Dench who returns once again as secret service boss M.
Daniel Craig revealed it had been important to get some of the humour seen in previous Bond films back for Skyfall.
"I always wanted to get the old Bond trademarks into the movie, and we had the chance. It was just a joy to put some of the gags in and get some of the old characters back. I think they're very important," said the 44-yearl-old.
Tuesday night's premiere was a star-studded affair.
Star such as Kelly Brook, Strictly's Victoria Pendleton, newlywed Holly Valance and supermodel Naomi Campbell walked the red carpet.
The 42-year-old model attended the premiere with her billionaire Russian boyfriend Vladislav Doronin.
According to reports, the supermodel is planning a four-day Indian party to celebrate her beau's 50th birthday next month.
The celebrations will kick-off in Rajasthan on November 4 with guests flying in from around the world.
Naomi has reportedly emailed guests invitations that include an image of her boyfriend posing underwater with a Seabob, a hand-held propulsion device - in a James Bond style photo-shoot.
The British style icon has reportedly booked out an entire five-star hotel for the main celebrations but has planned a number of other events that will take place in other parts the scenic city of Jaipur.
