Speaking on the show, Michael was very complimentary about the mum-of-three as he confirmed their upcoming collaboration. ''By all accounts it would be true," he said. "I just really am a big fan, and so myself and my camp, we wanted to do this with her, and we were thrilled that she was excited about it too.''
Although Reese is more known for silver screen romps such as Legally Blonde, she does have the credentials to step up to the microphone. The actress took voice lessons to prepare for her role as country singer June Carter in the Johnny Cash biopic, Walk the Line.
Although she and co-star Joaquin Phoenix received critical acclaim for their respective roles in the film, Reese is more likely to remember her time on the musical epic with mixed feelings. Speaking of the film she said: ''I had to do four months of rehearsals.
I had to learn to play autoharp. I had to take singing lessons. I had to record an album, which was the most challenging, horrifying experience of my life. Me singing in front of people while they're listening to me is just horrifying.''
Hopefully, the blonde will have a better experience when she steps into the studio to lay down vocals on a track for Michael's sixth album, due for release in 2013. Reese will have to fit the engagement around her busy home life – the actress recently welcomed a little boy named Tennessee James with her talent agent husband, Jim Toth.
Fans got their first peek at Reese's third child as the actress ran some errands in Santa Monica two weeks ago. The adorable baby is a little brother for Ava, 13, and Deacon, 8, who are Reese's children from her marriage to Ryan Phillippe. The couple split in October 2007, but the Southern Belle found lasting love with Jim, whom she married during a sunset ceremony at her secluded Californian ranch in 2011.
