The festive season just got a bit more special for American Idol star Kelly Clarkson has announced her engagement to talent-manager Brandon Blackstock. The Miss Independent singer Tweeted her happy news to fans on her Twitter account saying "I'm engaged!!! I wanted y'all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever."
Thirty-year-old Kelly, who shot to fame after winning the US singing competition in 2002, had suggested that she and 35-year-old Brandon would marry before they were engaged hinting "We are totally going to get married. We love each other. I mean, he's got to put a ring on at some point. But I'll wait it out."

Brandon, who has been dating the Because of You songstress for nine months, sealed the deal on Friday evening with a glittering yellow canary diamond ring.
When asked in the past about her plans for marriage Texas-born Kelly had said shes "honestly never been the girl to plan a wedding." But speaking about her relationship with Brandon the pretty brunette said "I completely fell in love. I did!
"Welcome to Cheeseville! I don’t know. Your priorities kind of shift and you become happier and all that stuff. It's probably my best accomplishment because I think, for me, especially, I just didn't think it would happen."
Brandon is the stepson of country music star Reba McEntire and has been married once before. Speaking to the Daily Mail in May singer and songwriter Kelly revealed "Brandon is my manager's son. I've known him for six years but he was married. Then, suddenly, there he was at the Super Bowl and he was single."
After winning American Idol's first ever series, pipping Justin Guarini to the post, Kelly's career took off. In 2006 she won two coveted Grammy Awards for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Vocal Performance for her hit track Since U Been Gone. Kelly has been recognised for her musical talent with MTV Music Awards, Teen Choice Awards and an impressive 13 Billboard Music Awards.
In keeping with her reality show roots Kelly performed for UK audiences during the finale of this year's X Factor. Against the backdrop of a montage of the contestants best moments Kelly sang her 2004 hit Breakaway. Kelly was introduced by presenter Dermot O'Leary before the winner, James Arthur, was told his fate.
