With her private life the subject of unwanted media attention of late, Miley Cyrus is putting the focus back on her music. In a clear departure from her Disney days, the pop star has released a sombre new track with rapper Snoop Dog, named Ashtrays and Heartbreaks.
The unlikely duo released their collaboration on Wednesday, with the track set to be the first of many edgy songs from Miley as she prepares to release her new album amid intense speculation about her romance with Liam Hemsworth.
"Now my buzz is gone, and I need to re-up on reality, Can't let them see me weak, I need to pause on it, Is there any possibility that everyone feels like me," she sings in the hook.

Calling for listeners to remember friends and loved ones who have died and have a drink in their honour, she goes on, "I lost some, since them, So put 'em high and tell 'em this, You can't aim but you never miss.
"So raise a glass to the memories and set 'em free, I'm gonna fill up all those ashtrays, fill up all those ashtrays".
Miley is clearly very proud of the collaboration, which will appear on Snoop's new album Reincarnated, and as praise flooded in she shared a picture of herself listening to the track with her Twitter fans.
Ashtrays and Heartbreaks offers fans a sneak peek as to what they can expect when Miley releases her highly-anticipated new album soon.
It promises to be a big departure from her Hannah Montana days — Miley has been hard at work in the studio with some well-known hip-hop producers, including Pharrell and Wii.I.Am.
But it looks like there might also be something for her pop followers too. On Tuesday, the star tweeted a picture of One Direction's Niall Horan in the studio, suggesting she might also have some mainstream tracks on the album.
Miley recently announced she's "focused on music and music alone" in the wake of the media frenzy surrounding her relationship with Liam. The couple - who revealed their engagement in June - are rumoured to have called time on their relationship.
Liam recently returned to LA following a solo visit to Australia and the Phillipines, and was spotted visiting Miley's home where his car was left parked outside, but the couple haven't been pictured together for months. While Miley has previously denied that the wedding is off, Liam - picture leaving a gym in LA on Wednesday - has remained resolutely silent.
