'It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks': Gwyneth Paltrow defends working mothers

Gwyneth Paltrow has defended working mothers by saying that they shouldn't listen to critics who tell them how to divide their time between work and family.

"I personally think that the work-life balance for a woman should be exactly what she feels is right for her," Gwyneth told Red. "Nobody else can set her time schedule, nobody else can tell her how many hours a week she needs to devote to this, that or the other."

"It doesn't matter what people who don't know you think," added Gwyneth, who is mother to Apple, nine, and Moses, seven, with her husband Chris Martin. "That's what we've got to let go of. That idea of 'Oh god, if I don't show up to this concert, all the other mums are going to think I'm terrible."

Gwyneth, who guest edited the December issue of Red, also spoke about how she personally manages her busy work schedule and life as a mother.

"When I'm with my kids, I give them everything I have," she said. "And when I'm not, I give whatever I'm doing everything I have. And that's my work/life balance. "The 41-year-old actress revealed that her public profile has seen her come under fire for spending too much time working.

"Obviously, I have it on a very large, global scale," she said. "But I've made it work for me."

"It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. It matters what you think of yourself. And what your children think."
