In an interview to accompany the beautiful pictures, the comedienne and former Coronation Street star says the ceremony was everything she had ever wanted.
“It was amazing and emotional and lovely to see everyone’s faces,” Sally told HELLO!. “There were lots of very kind people there and people I’d known and loved for so long.”
Steve added: “The service was perfect – personal but simple, emotional and heartfelt, which is what we wanted it to be.”
The couple, who have three-year-old twin boys, say the ceremony was the ‘ultimate commitment’. “It’s forever, it’s fab and I feel absolutely happy that we’re going into the next part of our life as a package,” Sally said.
In a break with tradition, the couple walked down the aisle together as the ceremony began – with Sally explaining why. “The person who looks after me the most in the world is Steve so it would seem daft if we didn’t walk up the aisle together,” she said.
“It was also really important to me that we walked down as a family.”
Stars who attended the ceremony, held in London’s Greenwich, included Suranne Jones, Gok Wan Janet Street-Porter, Liza Tarbuck, Denise Welch and Andrea McLean.
“It was a beautiful, lovely, heartfelt ceremony. Totally lovely and exactly what you’d expect from them,” Gok told HELLO!.
And for Sally, it was just the perfect day. “Some girls have been planning their wedding day since they were six, but I was never one of them,” she said.
“And to be honest, I never thought I’d have kids. Because of the career I’d chosen, I never thought it would be possible. And then I met Steve. I wanted to get married and have children with him. It was the man I met who changed everything for me, not the fantasy.”
