Nigella Lawson has spoken about her recent court case for the first time, describing the experience as "mortifying" and saying that her main aim was to "protect my children".  It was the TV chef’s first interview since an extraordinary court case in which her former assistants, sisters Elisabetta and Francesca Grillo, were accused of fraud and Nigella faced drugs allegations." I have to be honest, to have not only your private life but distortions of your private life put on display is mortifying," she told ABC’s Good Morning America.

"But there are people going through an awful lot worse and to dwell on it would be self-pity, and I don't want to do that. "During the court case, Nigella admitted to having taken cocaine and cannabis, but denied that she was a drug addict. She also told the court that she had turned to cocaine after being subjected to "intimate terror" by Charles Saatchi. The sisters were found not guilty of the fraud charges.Nigella cut a poised and confident figure as she spoke in court, but she told Good Morning America that  "can’t really remember" details of her testimony.

"You’re so focused on answering the questions to the best of your ability that actually you don’t have enormous awareness of yourself. "She added that her "main desire" was to protect her children, before joking that since the trial she had "eaten a lot of chocolate".
