04 JUNE 2014
Five months have gone by since Hilary Duff and Mike Comrieannounced their separation, but that really hasn't affected the family dynamic, according to Hilary's sister Haylie Duff.
"You know, it's funny. It's like, it's not that weird," the 29-year-old told reporters at the Step Up Inspiration Awards. "I think maybe we all think it's a lot weirder than it really is. But we love Mike, and he's still so much a part of our family."

In the time since their split, Hilary, 26, and 33-year-old Mike – parents to two-year-old Luca – have appeared especially amicable, and Haylie confirmed that the former NHL player is around all the time despite the separation.
"I might see Mike actually more than I see Hilary which is weird. But yeah, I think they are doing great. And they're just taking their time. And they're young – so they're not like putting stress to figure out which way it's going to go."

Haylie also spoke about her own upcoming wedding to T-shirt business owner Matt Rosenberg; the couple announced their engagement in April.
"I mean, it like still shocks me. It's not even normal. I still call him my boyfriend, and he, every once in a while, it like 'Babe, I'm your fiancé'," she said. "I’m like, 'Okay, okay, I got it!'
"His dad actually (designed the engagement ring) with him which is so sweet," Haylie revealed. "He sent over drawings to some of my girlfriends and my sister."

The actress said she would be asking her little sister for advice when it comes to planning the big day.
"We have not talked about anything. And yesterday, she and Luca came over for lunch, and she was like, 'So where are we doing this bachelorette party?' I was like, 'Oh my god. That's all you want to talk about, you sicko!'" she joked. "But yeah, we'll get into it. She's going to help me for sure, and I want everyone involved in it."
