Influenced from a young age by northern soul act, British soul and r'n'b singer John Newman was writing and playing his own songs by the age of 14.
After growing up on the Yorkshire Dales John moved to Leeds at the age of 16 and it was here he developed his voice and sound. At 20, he moved to London where he started a band and was soon signed to Island Records.
He made friends with a member of the band Rudimental whilst working at a bar, and soon collaborated with the dance act. Their song Feel The Love was released in May 2012 and became a UK number one hit single.
Later in the year the two acts worked together again on the track Not Giving In which was a Top 20 hit, and by 2013 the 24-year-old hitmaker was ready to release his own music.
His debut single Love Me Again went straight into the UK charts at number one, and in October 2013 his debut album Tribute also hit the top spot.
John has also worked with DJ Calvin Harris and with Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.
