Robin Thicke has revealed that he has not seen his wife Paula Patton in four months, despite naming his new album after her.

Since the couple split in February, Robin has made numerous public his pleas for his actress wife to take him back.

Speaking on live radio in New York City on Thursday, he told Hot 97 Radio Station: "I try to keep most of that private, but, I haven't seen her for four months."

He added: "If you’ve been together that long, you kinda became adults together instead of being adults and then meeting. But maybe a year or two off, we’ll become our own people without each other and then it will be meant to be."

Robin and Paula met when he was 14 and she was 15 and married in 2005. Rumours first swirled that their marriage was in trouble in August 2013 following Robin's controversial Blurred Lines performance with Miley Cyrus at the VMAs. Reports followed that the singer had been unfaithful during a party that same month.

The singer's revelation about Paula this week came during a Q&A chat on Twitter with VH1.

The music network asked fans to send their questions to Robin using the hashtag #AskThicke but the stunt backfired when Twitter users overtook the hashtag to ask Robin about his stance on consent, feminism, and even how to describe a kettle.

When he did respond to questions though, he only answered several that pertained to his music and the new album. "Why didn't you write a whole album for her when you were WITH her?" one fan asked, to which he replied: "She's always been my muse only this time from a distance."

Later in the session, he was asked: If you cherish #Paula as much as you say, why can you respect her desire for space and time to think healHe responded with: If you listen to the album you would ask that question.
