Rosamund Pike and David Tennant play a married couple about to divorce in the comedy

She was joined by her fellow cast members, Scottish actors David Tennant – who rocked up in a tartan kilt complete with belt and sporran – and Billy Connolly.

The film sees Rosamund and David play a married couple with three children who travel up to the Scottish Highlands for the birthday party of Billy's character, who plays the grandfather. The pair are in the midst of a difficult divorce and have asked the youngsters to keep it a secret but inevitably, the feuds kick in and the children become the biggest liability.

Producer David Thompson noted how Rosamund, who is mum to two-year-old son Solo, had a particularly affinity with the youngest cast members.

"She was great with the children," he told The Telegraph. "She has a great luminosity on screen."

Rosamund Pike is also set to star in Gone Girl next month

Rosamund and her long-term partner Robie Uniacke started dating in 2009, a year after film director Joe Wright called off their wedding. The Die Another Day star welcomed her first child with Robie, 53, in May 2012.

"It is interesting to break all the rules," she has said in the past. "I'm not married, I have a baby, and it feels infinitely more right."

Rosamund also plays a starring role in Gone Girl, out in UK cinemas next month.
